About This Blog

Sheryl and I originally created this blog specifically for the National Speakers Association 2006 Convention in Orlando, Florida.

It had two main purposes. The first was to report back about the convention to our fellow Fast Track speakers (and other CSA members) who could not attend the convention. We weren’t “reporting” on the convention in the sense of trying to cover it all, but we did try to give the look and feel of some the convention happenings (without the heat and humidity). You can link to this part of the blog on the upper right portion of the blog site – look under “Pages” or “Features” (we didn’t want you to miss it!). It’s called Day-by-Day Convention Blog.”

Our second purpose was to offer other speakers some practical and immediately useful examples of the power of Internet research and resources. Internet search is changing the face of the world (just read Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat if you don’t believe it) and it is changing the face of the speaking world, as well.

We’ve decided to keep that part of the blog going so we will continue to write about practical and immediately useful Internet search tips that can help you get accurate information quickly and craftily, boost your sales leads and explode your relationship network (little plug there). Also, because we just can’t resist, you’ll get some of our thoughts about the speaking industry and the NL East Pennant race.

Speakers are not our target market – so you’re safe here – there will be no sales plugs (other than the one above). We’re glad to share our ideas and tips with our friends in the National Speakers Association. However, corporations and associations are target markets of ours – so if you like what you read here and want to pay us back – send a few referrals our way.

We’d also really like to meet you – so grab us on the convention floor at this year’s San Diego Convention. We’re the cute ones.

If you miss the San Diego Convention (what’s wrong with you?!), we had so much fun at the Denver Winter Workshop this February, that we’re going back for more in February of 2008 at the San Francisco Winter Workshop. We don’t know if we can officially tell you this, but what the heck – we’ll be doing two mega-sessions (more details later), so start studying now.

Write to us or post your thoughts on one of the blog articles. We welcome your comments, corrections, additions, questions and critiques. See you at the 2008 Winter Workshop in San Francisco – or this year in San Diego.
